After the dealer finished with the 60K service on my 2000 Lexus RX300 a couple months ago, the engine developed a new habit--very high idle on startup. When totally cold, the engine revs to just under 2K when first started and then slowly comes down to a more normal level. It has never done that before. The local Lexus dealer initially told me that it wasn't necessarily bad for the idle to be that high, but when I insisted that they do something about it they replaced the iidle valve assembly for $517.51. However, that didn't solve the problem. In fact, the cold start idle looks to be a little higher than before. It doesn't seem to me that this level of idle would be good for a totally cold engine. Should I just live with the problem or is there a solution?
