2009 Lexus ES 350

I had a slight impact with Passenger side Mirror. Nothing was broken however the mirror came off the Housing. The power mirror functions are working fine.
However when I took the car to the dealership they insisted only solution is to replace the whole mirror fr about $ 500.

Is this correct? What are the other options. It looks very illogical to me as to why a fully functional mirror needs to be replaced because a mechanical housing is sheared. Also am curious what happens to the mirror once its being replaced. I am sure this becomes a part which can be easily resued after a small repair.
