Hello,
Since December, I have had a knocking sound occurring from the engine bay.

The sound occurs at it's worst when driving over 20mph, more so at 30 in 4th, and when temps are colder.

I have had both front driveshafts replaced and sound still occurs, originally happened when deccelerating, now happens regardless, unless accelerating excessively.

The sound is not present or audible when car is idle, only above 20/2nd gear.

Whether I am turning or driving in a straight line does not change sound.

all fluid levels are correct and car behaves relatively normal despite the sound.

Does engine sound increase with engine speed or just as mph goes higher? This may be a transmission bearing or axle sound with in the trans. I assume you have checked trans fluid to make sure it's full. One of the axle shafts could be h itting a shield as well

Hi HMAC300, it appears to be with RPM, I was supposed to have had all of my fluids replaced recently, levels seem fine, what sort of sound would I expect from those? I'm really stuck, the more I try to get it sorted, the worse of I seem to become, I have another 600 mile round trip to do from this Sunday and am scared as to what will happen.

Have the motor looked at if it increases with RPM this could be anything from a severe engine problem to something like a shield hitting balancer and making noise.

My car is making a knocking/flapping noise on the left side towards the rear of the car. It only happens when doing 70 mph+. It only started a few days ago. I have checked the plastic trim, made sure petrol door thing is shut properly and that there are no seat belts trapped outside the door etc. Thank you

Hi Sarah,

Is there a safe way you can get a video or audio recording of this? Due to the fact that you are going at a higher rate of speed, I am sure it is something loose or flapping in the wind but hearing it will help identify what it could be.

This guide can help us fix it

Thanks
