2004 Kia Spectra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
My car is making a rattling noise coming from the engine but other than that it drives well and has no problems starting. The noise was quiet at first. I could only hear it when the car was idling but it got louder over time. It sounds like something vibrating but it's hard to tell. At this point, it's very loud. I took the car for repairs and they told me that it's hard to diagnose. They think that it's a broken/cracked flywheel and they'll have to remove the transmission to diagnose and fix it. I did a little bit of online research and an automatic car has a flexplate instead. Is this right and would it be the same repair? I also read that if the car had a broken flywheel, the car would make noise when starting or would not start. Is this right? Do you think I have broken flywheel/flexplate? Any advice would be welcome.
