The passenger side door wont open. I know this is common in this year, but how can I fix this? Can I take the door lock fuse out?

Pull door panel off if you can get the screws out, then check where rods connect for a broken clip or rod off. Sometimes you have to remove the seat to get access to get the door panel off. I think clips are available at auto parts. See pictures.

I have a 2004 Kia Optima and the driver door won't open anymore from the inside or outside. First of all, what would be the cause of this and second what is the best method to go about solving the problem. Or at least getting the door open?

It sounds like the linkage has either broken or fallen apart. To access it and determine the problem, you will need to remove the inner door panel. It's the only way to get to it.

My question concerns an Optima Kia 4 door. My front passenger side door will not open from either the inside or outside. All other doors work fine. What could have happened to cause this door to stop opening?

You will have to get teh door panel off and see if a rod has fallen off or a clip broken that holds the rod to activate teh door. Make sure you don' thave the poser door lock engaged.

The driver side door won/t open. I have taken the passenger door inner panel off for a reference. The problem appears to be the linkage does not work between the door handles and the release mechanism. How can I get the driver side door off if I can't open it?

I can unlock the doors but the drivers side door will not open. It doesnt appear to be fully unlocked and the door will not physically open from the inside or out.

Hi ladycoop73,

Did you try manually operating the locking knob before opening?

If it don't work, then most probably the loak is faulty.

If after manualy operating the knob you can open the door, then the actuator motor is weak, you need to replace it.

Hi donnakia,

Should be mechanical, you have a faulty door lock.
