KEY LOCK CYLINDER AND IGNITION SWITCH

I just replaced the key lock cylinder on my '96 Explorer Sport, it cranks without any problems but now it won't cut off. I have to pop the clutch to stall it and unhook my battery cables. I do have a new ignition switch but I wasn't able to change it out tonight due to lack of light and tools. Could that be the reason why it won't cut off, or do you think I have a faulty lock cylinder?

It may be the switch not turning the truck off all the way
