I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport with a 4.0 and it has 84,552 miles on it. I am haviing a intermittent problem with it. I will be driving along and then all of a sudden the oil gauge will fluctuate alot and then black smoke will start coming oiut the exhaust. Then after awhile it starts to run normal. I have run seafoam thru it and changed the plugs and cap and rotor and also the plug wires. Does anybody have any ideas. Thank you and appreciate any help that anybody can give. Ray

Black smoke as in running too rich? Try changing the temp sensor!
