HI, I own a 1989 jeep cherokee with a 4.0 motor with 180,000 miles. The engine is tired. I also have a newer 1997 motor from a grand cherokee with low miles.I would like to swap engine blocks and heads and keep the 1989 intake, exhaust, pulley's, water pump, wiring ect. To clarify I just want to install the 1997 engine block and head and retain all of the 1989 cherokee original equipment. Will this run correctly when done Is their anything different about the blocks?

I dont think there is any differnece. Just to be sure, call the dealer and ask if the replacement engine covers those years.
