2000 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 87000 miles
I have a Jeep Cherokee 2000 Sport that use to be an old police jeep.
I have had a problem with the volt meter on the dash at random times go to max 19volts and the check Gage light goes on. This happens on the highway city and even at stop lights.
I took it into a Jeep dealership and had the computer replaced and the problem still happened so they replaced the computer again before I was instructed to replace the alternator.
I replaced the alternator and thought I was fine because the problem went away, however the problem returned again.
When it happens I turn the air conditioning on full which seems to make the Gage go back down.
The car when started also seems to within a minute cut radio power momentarily and resume playing tunes. Not sure if that is related but thought I would mention it.
The battery which was a relatively new battery when I purchased the car had acid all over it, I cleaned it but am wondering if that battery could be damaged and not able to keep a charge.
I know this is long but I wanted to get everything out there, any help would be appreciated,
have the same problem?
