When I press on the brake to slow down at a stop sign or traffic light it shakes like crazy

Replacing front brake pads and rotors isn't too hard to do. Since they usually last around 25,000 miles, you can get lifetime parts and never have to pay for parts again.

Let's get started. First, here is a link that shows in general how it's done. You can use this as a guide when working on your vehicle:

Here are the directions specific to your vehicle. The pics below correlate with the directions.

FRONT DISC BRAKE

REMOVAL
1. Remove the front wheel & tire.
2. Remove the split pin (A) and castle nut (B).
3. Loosen the hose eye-bolt (A) and caliper mounting bolts, then remove the front caliper assembly (B).
4. Remove the front brake disc by loosening the screws (A).

REPLACEMENT

FRONT BRAKE PADS
1. Loosen the guide rod bolt (A) and pivot the caliper (B) up out of the way.
2. Replace shims (A), pad retainers (B), and brake pads (C).
3. Push the piston in the cylinder using a SST (09581-11000)

4. Pivot the caliper down and tighten the guide rod bolt.

Tightening torque Nm (kgf.m, lb-ft):
21.6 - 31.4 (2.2 - 3.2, 15.9 - 23.1)

INSPECTION
1. Check the brake pads for wear and fade.
2. Check the brake disc for damage and cracks.
3. Check the thickness of the brake disc and run-out using a micrometer and a dial gauge on the part dotted line in the illustration below.

INSTALLATION
1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
2. Use a SST (09581-11000) when installing the brake caliper assembly.

3. After installation, bleed the brake system.

To remove the brake rotors, you will need to remove the caliper mounting bracket while the caliper is off. See the last two pics for the bolts to be removed and torque specs.

If you are just replacing the brakes and rotors, there is no need to bleed the system. As far as the rotors, if you feel the shaking in the steering wheel, chances are only the front rotors are warped.

I don't know how many miles you put on a year, but it isn't uncommon for them to only last 15 to 20K based on where you live and how you drive.

On the other hand, make sure the calipers are not sticking or hanging up. Are the pistons pushing smoothly back when you replace the pads? Are the slides clean of corrosion and properly lubericated?
