I was driving the car uphill. The car started ping knocking. Went down, at a certain point the engine stopped. I used the starter motor to move it on the side. Since then it worked very roughly some times, (not to a point to start moving). Now it does not start. When it was still turning on, I pulled off the pump relay. It stopped. I pulled the fuel pump tube and turned on the ignition: Fuel started coming into a bottle. Some days ago I used the starting spray into the air filter and cranked the engine: It started immediately. It stopped as soon as the starting spray finished. It does not present any fault code to the OBDII Creader 319. It does not seem to recognize the vehicle. ELM327 Android seems to find something, but not enough to present a fault code. Some years ago I had lost the keys. I made another key. The car did not work as the immobilizer did not let it start. I brought the car to a spooky mechanic and he fixed it. I do not know what he did. This is the story. Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Hi,

The noise you heard when it first happened (ping) usually indicates an issue with ignition timing. Have you checked to make sure the timing belt hasn't broken or jumped time?

Also, when it started with starting fluid, did it sound normal until the starting fluid ran out? When it starts with starting fluid and not without, indicates the engine is not getting fuel. I realize you checked for fuel, but did you check fuel pressure? Also, have you checked for an injector pulse?

I'm asking because there are several things that can cause a no fuel issue to the engine. The fuel pump may be too weak to open the injectors, the power-train control module (PCM) may have failed and is not sending a signal to the injectors, a camshaft position sensor may have failed resulting in no fuel to the injectors, and so on.

Do me a favor. First take a look through this link. It shows how to check for an injector pulse. We need to know if they are getting power.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-fuel-injector

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-stalls

Do that first and let me know the results. Also, I attached a pic below of the cam sensor. Make sure wiring and the connection is good and not damaged.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Dear Sir or Ma'am;
I have heard that I have been dealing with an air conditioning problem. It creates misfires on all 4 cylinders and is bouncy with acceleration. I have changed all the plugs and wires last summer when the same problem occured. The car always when cruising and a/c on it drops down a gear or it becomes no power. Is this the compressor failing. I have charged it to operating pressure and no relief.
Thank you
Leo

Hi Leo,

Is the Check Engine Light showing?

I don't think it is the compressor. It most probably is due to power loss of the engine. Check the fuel pressure and injectors.

The problem I experienced was that the Throttle Position Sensor costing about $55-70 replaced and it worked. I understand that the Throttle Position Sensor sends a signal to the throttle to increase when the air conditioner is running therefore a much smoother addition of fuel to deal with air conditioning load.

My car starts fine with no hesitation and does great on the open road. However, within the last couple of days, whenever I stop at a red light or a stop sign, my car stalls and the engine check light comes on. The first few times I shut the car off, waited a few seconds, and restarted the car just fine and the engine light went off. But today, it stalled again in heavy traffic. It took me 5 minutes to get the car started enough to drive it home, this time the engine light stayed on. It has been extremely hot this week 97 degrees and up. Does that have something to do with it. The car has NOT been overheating (according to the temp. Guage), nor does the car sputter at stop lights. The rpms simply drop off and the engine stalls. Is this something with the distributor?

If the check engine light is on, take it to a nationally recognized parts store and ask them to scan the computer for you. Most will do it for free, so there is no out of pocket expense.

Let me know what you find.

Hello,
I had the computer scanned and it turned out to be the crank shaft sensor that was faulty. We had it replaced and the engine check light has stayed off and so far we have had no problems with stalling at lights. The car seems to be idling smoother as well. Thanks!

Car will start cold. Idle for about 15 minutes then stall out. Will continue running if RPM is kept high. Have replaced coil pack, cam sensor and ignition module.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Fuel pressure?

Let me know.

Hi there,

This model is know for faulty crank angle sensors that shut down when the engine warms up, get a scan done to check for this fault and any other unresolved fault codes.

Hi there,

Check for a fault code, the light will not always come on when fault codes are set, These cars have a problem with Crank shaft position sensors, I feel that this may be your problem, the symptoms fit.
