Engine Performance problem
1986 Honda CRX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 160000 miles
i test drove an 86' Honda CRX last week and everything ran fine, I bought it today and once I pulled out the thing started sputtering real bad like I was running out of gas. I barely made it to the gas station, which wasn't even a half a mile away and couldn't even get enough speed to shift into second. I put gas into it and it would barely start, kachug, kachug. Stall. Eventually after I tried to get it to start a few times, smoke started billowing off the back of my car. It wasn't on fire but I realized I had a gas leak. After examining it, I found that it was coming from the sending end of the fuel pump and thats on the opposite side of the car from the exhaust so it couldn't have been gas burning. Could the leak be preventing me from getting enough gas to the engine for it to perform properly? Is the fuel pump still good since it's leaking from the further away side from the tank?
have the same problem?
