Air Conditioning problem
2000 Honda CRV 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Manual 180000 miles
About 4 weeks ago my air con started making an intermittent hissing noise in the cabin of the car. A few days later the air con did not blow cold air at all. I took it to the auto electrician who regassed the system and put dye in and told me to come back in a week. A week later the hissing noise had started again but the air was cold. The auto electrician found no leaks. Two days later the air was no longer cold again. I took the car back and this time was told there was a crack in the evaporator and I would need to replace this and the compressor. Finally parts arrived and after $1550au I was told it was fixed. The air is very cold now and fan is working better than ever. However the hissing noise is now even louder and comes on about every 20-30 seconds. It makes no difference what speed the fan is on or how cold or if it is on recycled or external air. If I put the clutch in while the noise is happening it interupts it briefly and then starts again when the clutch is released. I have been back to the auto electrician and he doesn't know what it is. Help! The noise is driving me mad!
