I cant use the switch to unlock the doors?

I have the car listed above (SI model) comes with power locks. I can use the switch to unlock the doors but I can't lock them. I recently put a alarm system and the remote works to unlock but I can't use it to lock it.

It sounds like the alarm is no good or you have it wiring incorrectly. here is a guide to help you check for power and the door lock wiring diagrams so you can see what to check and how the system works:

Electrical problem
1999 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 220K miles

Hi there,

Would a failing driver's door actuator cause the other doors to not lock/unlock, or are most likely all 4 door hosed up? Could you please inform me about this as only my car drivers's side lock/unlock is working. I checked the switch and then the Door Lock Control unit. Both are working fine. Checked them in my friend's car of the same model and type. I see the fuse are fine and Wiring seems to be ok. Can I check that the wring and actuator of the other 3 door are ok from the harness of the door control device. What can be the problem? I appreciate any answer and if possble could you please email me just the doors cirucit diagram.

The driver's door lock actuator can be used for locking but not unlocking the other doors.

From the diagram you can see that if the lock is faulty, it would not provide power supply to the driver's door lock switch so it can cause the other 3 doors not top lock or unlock.

power lock will not work on any door. Fuse under hood is good. Ck door lock control from my other honda stll no good I do not have a remoe entey please help

If you don't get any movement when trying to lock, or unlock then I suspect the problem is going to be in the switch built onto the drivers door lock motor.

Unplug the 4 wire connector at the motor and then try the master switch in both directions to see if you get any movement.

Removerd the wire to drivers door no responce also tryed master switch from my other car still no respose switch worked on the other car.

Did more ck and found there was no ground jumped blk wire to ground and it started working

Power locks could be a fault with the control unit, lock actuator, a blown fuse or a wiring problem.

The slow window movement could be due to a weak motor or the runchannels are bad restricting movement. With windows down, spray some silicone lubricants or tire restorer ( or equivalent but DO NOT use WD40 or any oil based sprays). Move the glass up and down a few times and retest.

No the car is not equipped with keyless entry and there is no noise or movements when the switch is activated

Remove left door panel. Using a DVOM, perform power door lock unit input tests. See Fig. 5. If all input test results are okay, inspect connector and terminals for damage and proper fit. If connector is okay and power door lock still malfunctions, replace power door lock control unit.

My 1999 Honda Civic LX has electrical issues I cannot explain. The locks stopped working a few months ago, and recently the headlights randomly flash the brights. My stereo has also been cutting out on the front with no explanation as to why. All of this may be connected to my encounter with a deep puddle, that initially flooded the distributor and air filter. The engine has been working OK, but I am baffled as to how seemingly different electrical systems could be malfunctioning. I have checked the fuses- they all tested OK. Could a group of wires be short-circuiting? Am I missing something?Austin

Check your grounds, there are afew that are low on tehframe in engien copartment and if you flooded dist they may be mesed up. Also clean teh trerminals of your battery and bat to engine bat to body.
