how do I change the ignition switch for my 93 honda civic

Please be aware that the ignition switch is not what the key inserts into. That is called the ignition lock cylinder. I will post replacement instructions for the switch, but if you meant the lock cylinder just let me know and I will post correct procedures for that.

Disconnect the negative and positive battery cables and wait at least three minutes.
Make sure you have the 5-digit security "CODE" for the original radio before disconnecting the battery.
Remove the dashboard lower cover and knee bolster.
Disconnect the 5-pin electrical connector from under the dash in the fuse/relay box, and the 7-pin connector from the main wire harness.
Steering wheel and steering column covers as necessary, to gain access to the switch.
Insert the ignition key and turn it to the O position.
Remove the two screws and remove the switch.

Install the new switch in position and install the two screws.
Fasten the electrical connectors.
Install the column cover and lower dashboard panels.
Connect the negative battery cable. Check the operation of the switch in all positions.
