I have a 2002 Honda Accord, 4Cyl, 5Spd Trans, 56,000 miles.

My check engine light came on (P1164), my mechanic said it was the air/fuel ratio sensor. My mechanic replaced air/fuel ratio sensor, but that was not the repair that should have been done on my car. A visit to Honda comfirmed that the ECM part is defective, and covered under Honda warranty.

Honda will replace ECM, but said that the aftermarket air/fuel ratio sensor (DENSO brand and about 2 weeks old) might not interact properly with the Honda part. I find that hard to believe. Is that true?

It might not but if they put on the correct aftermarket sensor and not a universal it should be fine.
