Door lock won't work after exiting the carI found out that the fuse for the clock was bad. Replaced it with a new fuse and the door lock then worked. I would never have thought that a bad clock fuse would have any effect on the door lock upon exiting the car.

Yes, sometimes manufacturers don't label every circuit that a fuse does! Glad you solved it.

The power locks on the vehicle work fine however only when the car is turned to the on positon. With out the key turned to the on position they will not work.

What counld this be from. Or is it how it works from factory. I have other hondas that let you use the power door lock feature with out it having to be on

Hi tripinslow26,

Get the fuses checked. One of the power supply could be missing. If not you have a fault with the multiplex control system

Hi guys,

My problem is the power door lock on both passenger sides (front and back).
When I use the power door lock switch on driver's side or on the passenger door switch, both passengers side doors won't lock or unlock only clicking sound I can hear on all sides. Using key to open the door will work fine either driver side or passenger side.

When I'm using key to open from driver side, both passenger doors don't work the locks. Yes even a few tries using key they wont locking and unlocking.

I do not know is the problem. Is it the door actuator or the wiring or something else?

Hi richola,

It sounds like Both door lock actuators are faulty and need replacement.

Hi KHLow2008,

Im sorry but what do you mean exactly on the first one "wiring circuit from left to right door lock actuators". Could you be more specific?

If no. 1 is the possible problem:
1. How do I find the bad wiring circuit?
2. Is there a test to find the location of bad wiring.
3. Or do I have to take all the door panels off to find the bad wiring? Or just on drivers side?

If no. 2 is the possible problem:
1. Do I have to replace all the door lock actuator?
2. Or only on drivers side?

Hi, richola.

I have exactly the same problem you have. I have just replaced actuator for the passenger rear door. It is working like a charm now. Now, the front passenger door is doing the same, once in while. So, it looks like I will need a new actuator there too. It already cost me $46 for the back door. And the dealer wants $60 for the front door.

It seems like there's a known issue here.

You can do this yourself if you want to save some money.

Hi richola,

Wiring from left to right door actuators means the circuit from the central lock control unit in driver door is broken either due to disconnected wire couplings or broken wires.

To check for bad wirings, you need to check power supply from output, ie, at control unit to input and that is actuator motor. Actuator motor test would confirm if it is the problem.

You need to remove both sides door panel unless you know which wires are for central lock and power supply and can perform test from door pillar connectors.

You need to replace the actuators for passenger side only as they are the ones not working.

I fixed my power door locks. Actuators were the problem on both passenger side. I replaced them with the new ones.
Thanks for the help!

My car power lock not working I open the hood and look at the fuses and it was missing a fuse but when I put a fuse on the slot it burn out. I want to know what I can do to fix the problem. Cause the car comes with a factory alarm and I think thats why the alarm is not working.

Since the fuse blows upon installing it indicates that there is a short on that circuit. Most likely the drivers power door lock switch is at fault.

When I use the master window switch, I am only able to roll the drivers side windows up and down (both roll). To roll either of the passenger side windows, I have to reach to the switch on that door. (I can't do it from the master switch). This happened the same time the locks became non functional. I can't lock or unlock from either switch. I tried replacing the door module in the drivers door but that didn't work. (The part was used so I guess it's possible it was bad too.) Any ideas?

Hi buick301,

First thing I would check would be that master switch. Check to see if it is sending a signal to operate those components when you command the switch(es).

I replaced the driver side power window regulator successfully. But now my power locks are not working. The locks go down manually when the engine is off. Oher wise I have tough time operating the power locks on all windows. The drive side lock latch does not stay down when pushed while the engine is on. Did I goof up in wiring or is there another mechanical problem created while I re-assembled the door panel. Thanks.

Hi desichemist,

By right there should be no problems with the wiring as they are mostly non interchangeable. However it seems the driver door lock wire is in reverse compared to the others

Unplug the driver door lock actuator motor wire socket and test if the other 3 doors works.

Hi robert760,

Either the master swich or multiplex control unit is bad or you have a power supply issue to the master switch.

I have a 1998 Honda Accord LX. Yesterday morning, when I got in the car the speedometer was not working and the car was idling rough at stops. I took the car to my mechanic and was told that the problem was a bad speed/distance sensor. The mechanic replaced the sensor and the car appeared to be working fine when I picked it up right at closing time.

I drove the car home (about ten minutes away) and when I got out and went to lock the doors, I found that neither of the power door locks would work. No sound was made when flipping the switches, they just wouldn't work. I have never had any problems with the locks before.

I took the car back to the mechanic today about thirty minutes before closing time and they checked the fuses and said they were all good. They were not able to diagnose the problem prior to closing so I will have to leave the car tonight so they can look at it tomorrow.

My question is this. Could someone working on the speed sensor have done something to have caused the power door locks to fail? The shop is already hedging around and saying that they don't believe that the door lock problem was due to anything they did but I find it hard to believe that something that hadn't broken in the eight years I've owned the car managed to coincidentally break during the nine hours they had it.

Any help on this would be most appreciated! Thanks.

Hi msni1,

The door locks and VSS are not related so it could be coincicence that the problem occurred.

The problem is most likely to be a fault with the power supply so get the fuses checked in underhood fuse box.
