Immobilizer will not work

Immobilizer will not connect to car. Light on button goes but car still will not start. Has new battery I just do not know why. Can some one please help?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com These problems can be a nightmare. Here are no start directions from Alldata. I also attached the pictures which correlate with these directions.

Starter Circuit Troubleshooting

NOTE:
Air temperature must be between 59 °and 100 °F (15 °and 38 °C) during this procedure.
After this inspection, you must select engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) reset using the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS), otherwise the ECM/PCM continues to stop the fuel injectors.
The battery must be in good condition and fully charged.
Recommended Procedure:
Use a starter system tester.
Connect and operate the equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Alternate Procedure

Hook up the following equipment:
Ammeter, 0 - 400 A
Voltmeter, 0 - 20 V (accurate within 0.1 volt )
Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
Select PGM-FI, then INSPECTION, then ALL INJECTORS OFF function on the HDS.
With the shift lever in N or P (A/T) or clutch pedal pressed (M/T), turn the ignition switch to start (II).
Did the starter crank the engine normally?

YES - The starting system is OK. Go to step 11.

NO - Go to step 5.

Check the battery condition. Check electrical connections at the battery, the negative battery cable to body, the engine ground cables and the starter for looseness and corrosion. Then try cranking the engine again.
Did the starter crank the engine?

YES - Repairing the loose connection corrected the problem. The starting system is OK. Go to step 11.

NO - Check the following:

If the starter will not crank the engine at all, go to step 6.
If it cranks the engine erratically or too slowly, go to step 8.
If it won't disengage from the flywheel or torque converter ring gear when you release the key, check the following:
Solenoid plunger and switch malfunction
Dirty drive gear or damaged overruning clutch

Make sure the transmission is in neutral, then disconnect the BLK/WHT wire from the starter solenoid S terminal. Connect a jumper wire from the battery positive terminal to the solenoid terminal.
Did the starter crank the engine?

YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Remove the starter, and repair or replace as necessary.

Check the following items in the order listed until you find the open circuit:
The BLK/WHT wire and connectors between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the ignition switch, and between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the starter.
The ignition switch.
The transmission range switch and connector (A/T) or the clutch interlock switch and connector (M/T).
The starter cut relay.
While cranking the engine, check the cranking voltage and current draw.
Is cranking voltage greater than or equal to 7.7 V (M/T)/8.5 V (A/T) and current draw less than or equal to 400 A (M/T)/380 A (A/T)?

YES - Go to step 9.

NO - Replace the starter, or remove and disassemble it, and check the following:

Starter armature dragging
Shorted armature winding
Excessive drag in engine
Check the engine speed while cranking the engine.
Is the engine speed above 100 rpm?

YES - Go to step 10.

NO - Replace the starter, or remove and disassemble it, and check the following:

Open circuit in starter armature commutator segments
Excessively worn starter brushes
Open circuit in commutator brushes
Dirty or damaged helical splines or drive gear
Faulty drive gear clutch
Remove the starter, and inspect its drive gear and the flywheel or torque converter ring gear for damage. Replace any damaged parts.
Select ECM/PCM reset to stop the ALL INJECTORS OFF function on the HDS.

New HDS Software 3.009.003 Changes HDS Lockout Feature

EDITOR'S NOTE : This article replaces The HDS Lockout Feature Explained, " issued in March 2010. To get automatic overnight updates, we've asked you to leave your HDS PC turned on and connected to the network/Internet. If it stays disconnected for 7 straight days, it locks up and you get this message.
Once that happens, you're locked out and the HDS can't connect to the vehicle.

Up to now, to unlock the HDS you had to run and pass the Honda Network Tester (HNT) from the HNT desktop icon. But with HDS software version 3.009.003 or later, that's all changed.

We've updated the software to improve network connectivity and gotten rid of the HNT function and icon. The HDS now checks for updates and transfers files anytime the PC is connected to the Internet. And anytime you log into the iN from the HDS, the lockout counter resets to a full 7 days.

You also get this reminder message if the counter drops to 3 days, which tells you it's time to connect to the Internet and log into the iN at the Vehicle Details screen.

If 7 days pass, and you still haven't logged into the iN, the HDS locks up and you get this message:

If that happens, and you've got a good Internet connection, just go to the Vehicle Details screen, make sure the date and time settings are right, and log into the iN.

That should unlock the HDS, but if it does not because there is a network problem, then call the Special Tools Hotline. They can bypass the lockout for seven days (one day for ServiceExpress subscribers), which should be enough time for your IT administrator to fix the problem. So, to keep the HDS from getting locked out, always leave your PC turned and on connected to the Internet at the end of the day. But if that is not practical, just make sure you log into the iN from the HDS at least once every five days.

And just so you know, we have covered this information in the Tech2 Tech segment HDS Software 3.009.003: HDS Lockout Changes." So be sure to check it out.

My son got in a front end accident with air bag deployment. I disconeceted the negitive battery terminal to do all repairs to the front end lights and remove the driver srs. All repairs are complete but I was unable to find a replacement srs, so I reinstalled deployed srs. After putting everything back I reinstalled the negative terminal.
The security system light on the sterring column is blinking and there is a clicking comming from under the dash. The power comes on but the car will not start. It apears the security system is preventing it from starting, what do I need to do to reset or overide?

it is the factory system. I tried your sequence but it still is preventing it from starting.

Yes it is factory security. I tried to put the key in and lock, unlock dorr but it wont reset alarm and allow ot to start

If the alarm is not going off and only the security light is blinking, the key is not being read by the immobilizer.

Recheck if the steering column wireharness and ignition switch is correctly and securely installed. Check underhood and underdash fuses.

The alarm is clicking and beeping at times. I checked the fuses and all are good. There was no work done to the the steering column or wire harness except to remove and reinstall the SRS. I checked all connections and they are secure. For some reson the interuper modual is not reading the key and not allowing it to start. We bought the car used and do not have the original factory key, it is a aftermarket copy. Would that cause "confusion" in the interupter?

The alarm on my 1994 honda keeps going off by it self for about 15 seconds then swithces itself off. Any advice on what it could be

Self activation of alarms are usually due to triggering points being activated. Check for improperly adjusted doors or broken return springs of door switches.

If you have any vibration sensors with your alarm system, then you need to disable it or at least decrease the sensitivity.

The alarm system has been activated when battery terminals are disconnected and reconnected.

Without the fob and with possible faults with the key, there is one more option that you can try. I never recommend this unless all others fails.

Ensure battery is fully charged and has been taken off charger for more than 1 hour. This is to ensure the battery is stable before installing.

An under charged battery is ok, but never an overcharged battery for this procedure.

Connect the positive battery terminals.
Turn all electrical components OFF.
Turn ignition switch to ON.
Install the negative battery terminal and tighten to secure.
If the alarm doesnot come on, the process is complete.
If alarm goes off, disconnect negative terminals and repeat process again.

After market master key might not work until it is programmed by the dealer to match the computer.

I am not able to find any details about the security system for the year model in our database.

No luck on last proceedure of turning it to on position with neg terminal off then connecting. Would getting a replacement FOB from honda cure this problem or is that a "crap shoot" also?

is it possible that I thought I was locking my car door but I was only putting on the alarm -someone entered the vehicle and fell asleep and set off the alarm on exiting the vehicle - how could this happen

Hi Mary,

The only logical explanation is when locking the doors, one of the locks falied to work and for that particular door, the switch was sticking. When the door was opened, it did not trigger the alarm. When exiting the vehicle, if using the same door, vibration from movements could have caused the door switch to come into contact to trigger the alarm.

I have recently purchased a 1991 Honda accord LX the odometer shows 121,000 but the speed sensor has failed so guessing 150,000. The PO said she didn't know how to work the alarm system so she never did anything with it. There are no remotes. The only thing that tipped me off to it was an LED mounted in the dash and recently I noticed a toggle switch near the hood release lever.

I think I flipped the toggle switch while opening the hood. I replaced the thermostat and now have no spark and no fuel pump. I did notice that there was a broken temp sensor under the distributor but didn't feel that that would cause the symptoms I am experiencing.

I found the alarm box under the dash and it is about 4 inches square and has the wire colors and function listed but no mfg name.

Once I repair the yellow wire that I broke removing the control box, is there a way to remove this system or at least bypass it. I'd really like to get this car started again.

Under the dash should be a reset button. The should allow the car to restart. Then find the manufacturer, call them or go on line. My daughter had an alarm system in her civic. I pulled that out and am very glad to be rid of it.
