Engine Cooling problem
2002 GMC Yukon V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 105000 miles
I want to replace the old original (red) anti-freeze with new Prestone (red) DEX-Cool. The newer GM vehicles do not have a radiator cap on the top of the radiator. However, they do have a reservoir which appears to feed directly into the water-pump. There is a traditional radiator tee-drain, for draining the radiator.
What is the procedure for draining and refilling with new anti-freeze?
On my old vehicles, I would place a water-hose into the radiator with cap removed, I would open the radiator drain and drain the content into a 5 gallon bucket. Once the radiator became clear, I would turn off the water-hose and start adding anti-freeze until anti-freeze started coming out of the drain, then I would close the drain value.
I do not want the vehicle to run hot during the process.
have the same problem?
