Transmission problem
1988 GMC S15 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

When I put the truck into first gear and disengage to go it starts making a grinding sound as though I haven't put it into gear. Normally it's only been in first gear, all other gears operate smoothly. When checking the clutch fluid the seal would not go back into the reservior cap, it was stretched. Is that part a clutch master cylinder reservoir cap seal? I can not locate it anywhere online.

Do you think this is a transmission problem or needing to replace the clutch slave or master cylinders?
