Check Engine Light doesn't work

Chevy Lumina sedan, 1997, 135,000 mi: The Check Engine light will not light at al, even during self test at start up. Any suggestions? Are there bulbs to change? It worked a few monthes ago. Needed a new EGR valve.

The mil light is turned on by the computer. It could be a bulb, which is the more likely culpret.
