My daughter has a 1989 GMC full size Jimmy with a 350 engine. The truck was running badly to begin with but one evening she started it then it stalled within a few seconds. She tried to start it again and I smelled something burning and there was a bit of smoke from the front passenger side of the engine compartment. She tried to start it again and there was nothing. No engine cranking, no click from the starter, nothing. Her dashboard lights and guages all work. I checked the fuses under the dash and they're all good. I charged the battery and cleaned both cables top and bottom. Still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Roy

Check your fusible links and inspect the battery cable at the starter might be grounded there.
