The OE fuel pump was replaced with a Napa pump and also Auto Parts Mart pumps----almost one per year! Why aren't these fuel pumps lasting? The current one was installed just THREE MONTHS AGO (by shadetree mechanics in the small town I live in).
The dealership is 45 miles away and will be closing once the last GM car is sold. They say they have a lifetime warranty on parts and labor. The dealership estimates around $500.00 to replace the pump.

Why are these fuel pumps breaking down so often?

Thank you,
Charlene Eason

The only thing I can say is the aftermarket pumps are not of the same quality as the OEM. THis isn't an uncommon problem.
