'91 GMC K2500 4x4 5.7L 250,000, wife threw the belt truck overheated and she shut it down, replaced belt and it kept throwing it when started, further inspection showed, I guess it is the AIR PUMP, located under air compressor, this pulley was burnt with belt and scored, cleaned it off, tried spinning pulley and it was VERY tight to move, broke it free with good ole WD-40 and worked it for awhile till it felt loose, tried belt again and turned on air, was fine for a few mins. Then pulley broke. What does this do, and can I eliminate it and not run the belt on it, I am sure it is not cheap to buy and we are out of work. PLEASE HELLPPPPP.
have the same problem?
