I have a 1998 mercury tracer ford edition. I recently got a new fuel filter put in because it started putting and jerking like real bad. Well, it came to my attention the reason for the putting was when I put the new fuel filter on I had to clean the injectors so I went to Autozone and bought some Slick 50 to clean the entire fuel system, and since my car was started to over heat I then bought a new thermostat but it has continued to run hot. I really do not know what to do, my step dad who is a mechanic will not tell me what is the problem, and I'm afraid to drive 15 minutes to the nearest town to get it serviced afraid of breaking down on side of the road and blowing up my engine, could you please help me understand and fix my problem.
thank you sincerely
