Heater problem
1999 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 127000 miles

The pin or whatever, holding the blend door broke last winter and our mechanic said it would be 600-800 to install a new one. They put a pin in to hold the door open so we would have heat - then removed it for cool this summer. Well -- took it in to have same thing done this time and they said they couldn't get the pin to stay. Obviously don't want to put that much money into a high mileage vehicle, even though it still runs great. Any suggestions? Is the door plyable enough to bend so as to get partial heat? Where would I get a diagram for this? We would like to try inserting the pin again. Thanks!
