Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 248, 00 miles
i have an 02 f250 7.3 diesel. It will sometimes shut down while driving. And sometimes it will not start. When it is running it runs great. There are no touble codes. The cps (cam position sensor has been replaced 3 times). It has good fuel pressure. New alternator, starter, fuel filter. This is a ghost problem and doesnt happen sometimes for a month or so. It doesnt matter if its wet or dry. It will turn over but wont start. Then it will decide to start somtimes it takes a min or a day or 2. I think it could be the high pressure oil pump or the high pressure oil system pressure sensor? The reason why I think this might be the issue is due to the relation of the fuel injectors, the high pressure oil, and the PCM? I know that the pcm has to get signal from the oil presure sensor or it wont operate the injectors. The dealership just keeps replacing the cps and says it should fix the problem but it doesent and the charge way too much. Is there anyone out there with ford diesel or international diesel experience that can help?
