Greetings. My car is a 1997 Ford Thunderbird with the V6. It has 264,000 miles on it. Just today as I was leaving work the engine started shaking real bad and felt out of sync. The check engine light came on shortly after. I thought maybe I'd broken a motor mount. Anyway, I drove it to the auto parts store and had them check the computer and it said cylinder 2 was misfiring. I brought the car home and checked the spark plugs and the cables and they all seemed fine. I might change out the spark plugs anyway but what else could cause this problem?
Adding this part 2 days later just FYI for others who have the same problem. Fixed it! It was the ignition coil pack. Installed a new one that cost $69. Now the car runs smoother than it ever did.
have the same problem?
