Taurus noise/problem

2000 ford taurus, 47 K miles.
noise varying from chirpping to squealing, seem to be coming from the ignition coil pack area. Also, hard to start, stalls. This only occurs on occasion.
recenltly replaced alternator, but stiil have the problem.
any ideas?

Chirping or squealing can mean the belt, belt tensioner, incorrectly routed belt, idler pulley, misaligned alternator pulley, bad bearings in the alternator. Did you put in a new or rebuilt alternator? When you say it's hard to start do you mean it cranks slow like a charging problem, which could be caused by the above, or does it take a lot of cranking to start?
