Engine Performance problem
2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 180000 miles
I have never had this problem from the 3 Taurus' that I own!
I just replaced a waterpump this past weekend. Now it has developed a drivability problem. I now cannot exceed 60 mph. Once this speed is reached and I try to accelerate the car feels like it has no power and starts to slow down until I let off the pedal. Under hard acceleration it starts to ping slightly and starts laboring. I let off and get back to 60mph and it seems to run fine. I understand that the pinging is a lean fuel condition in most issues. I did a fuel pressure test thinking the fuel pump was weak, not so lucky! 30 psi key on-engine off, 50 psi engine running and fuel seems to be quite warm.
Plugs, wires, starter, alternator, battery, radiator, thermostat, waterpump and drive-belt are all new.
I am stumped! HELP!
have the same problem?
