2002 Ford Taurus Compressor going out.

The compressor is going out. It looks like it will freeze up soon therefore taking out the belt. My question is: I can't spend the 1200 for a replacement compressor, therefore isn't there a way to just remove the compressor all together and put a new belt on or maybe a pully of some sort?

Some you can get away with a smaller belt and other you can not it will not work
check which one you have
The 1st one will not work the 2nd may work
