2001 Ford Taurus Automatic 98,000 miles
In May of this year, while driving down the interstate, my Transaxle light began blinking in the car. When I got home, I checked the trans fluid, and it was low, so I filled it! For the next 6 months I was unable to drive my car due to registration, but I did let it run a few times a week oround the neighborhood. I re-instated my registration, and the 2 days I have driven my car, it has lost at least a quart, if not more, of trans fluid each day. Obviously there is a significant leak. There are large "puddles" under the car when I move it. Not sure from where? I put some transmission fluid stop leak in last night, and it is still leaking, but not anywhere close to the amount it was leaking the day before. What is the most likely cause of the leak? The light doesn't come on until I get to about 65-70mph. It will run around town all day with no problem! Thanks for you time and info! It's great to have a site like this for those of us who know NOTHING about cars!
have the same problem?
