My previous car was rear-ended and totaled, so I just bought my 2000 Ford Taurus. Nice car. I asked the used car dealership to check the AC as it was not cold. They sent it out to a mechanic, who gave it freon. Said he checked it out and that's all it needs. I never talked to the mechanic.

One week later, the AC was not cold. I charged it myself with 2 cans of freon. It was cold. One week after that, it is no longer cold. Again.

It may have a leak or some other problem. How can I troubleshoot it to know what the problem is, so I can fix it? I am an experienced part-changer, but troubleshooting is not my best task.

Thanks.
