Won't start-no crank. Dead. Radio, lights, heater, etc. All work fine. Jumped socket 30 of starter relay to battery and starter motor does not turn. Metered from ground to starter relay socket 85 with key to start and get +12 volts. All relays and fuses are good. The last part of the starter circuit is a wire from starter relay socket 86 to the pcm. What is this? Can it be my pcm that is preventing a start? Any way to bypass? Problem was intermittent for a day- now dead

Are the injectors showing 12v with key on? You could have a bad PCM?

Attached is the starting circuit schematic.

The relay receives its ground from the PCM and it could be a faulty PCM or the security system is armed.

Two things to look at, one pull the connector off the crank sensor and plug its back in. If no start the pigtail at the starter may be one that ford put a technical service bulletin out on, they have a wire kit to fix it. Look for any corrosion at starter

It seems as though my car has power but when you turn the key nothing not even the starter trying to turn. It started with the car seeming to have a dead battery But would start right away with a jump (about three times) On the fourth try to jump it nothing no turning of the starter engen trying to kick over just a clickor almost a hiss noise then nothing Not sure what the problem could be and any help would be appreciated!

IF the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned. Most parts stores will do it for free. ALso, check the fuel pressure. Directions are on our homepage under the DIY section.

When engine is shut off after being run for a while it will not start. It will not even turn over and almost acts as if the battery is dead. Had the battery and alternator tested- both are good.

Thanks

Hi
When engine is good and warmed up go to an Auto Zone and have starter draw checked. I think you'll find it excessive.
Hope this helps

If it starts easily after cooling for 30 to 60 mintues, then replace the starter. I had a couple of starters in my older Tauruses that died that way.

I was driving on the freeway the other day and the engine just stopped running. Luckily I had enough momentum to coast off the freeway into a gas station. Immediately after the engine died, I tried starting it in neutral and all I heard was a single click. I pulled it into the gas station and tried starting it again and it wouldn't turn over, just a single click. I had the battery, alternator and starter replaced about 1 year ago, so I couldn't imagine that it is one of these. I wanted to check to see if it could have been the starter, so I banged on it a few times, but the engine still wouldnt turn over, only a click. Any idea what might be the problem and the solution? Thanks!

Could be corroded connections or bad connections.
Also you could just because you replaced those items a year ago. Doesnt mean you didn't get a bad one. You have to have the alternator and starter tested. First and we'll take it from there.

Hello,

My engine in my car is turning over the engine revs when you press on the gas but when you shift the car into different gears nothing happens. Can this be a tranmission problem? I was told that it could be my turke converter or I would need a new transmission. What would cause this to happen?
