Is it a constant blink or only over bumps?

The running lights only blink when the car is first turned on and lasts for about 10 minutes before they stop blinking. Also they may intermittently blink when driving.

Also I was incorrect my Taurus is not a V8 but a V6 SL model.

That is okay about the engine. They never made a V8 for one so I knew what you ment. As far as the lights, it sound tied into the vehicle security system. Have you ever noticed the security light staying on?

Thank you for your quick response, but the vehicle is not equipped with a security system.

Are you sure? Most came factory with one. Have you ever noticed a theft light flashing? It is a very quick flash when the engine / key are off.

Thank you so much for your persistance. Since my husband drives the car most of the time, I can truly say that I have not seen the light you are referencing. I will check with him and email you back again.

Let me know. It was a few years back, but I thought it came from the factory with one.

Jacobandnickolas - Thanks for your input - however I did check and our Taurus does not have a security system installed, so that brings me back to square one with the blinking lights. I am sure there is an answer to this problem, but it seems to be eluding everyone including my two mechanics. I appreciate your assistance and hope that somehow I can resolve this very annoying situation.

I need you to try something. Remove the flasher for the turn signals and tell me if the problem stops.
