Heater core problem
1997 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 125000 miles

In the service manual, it says to take out the Instrument panel before starting to work on the area around the heater core.

I don't understand why you would do this, it does not appear to give you any more access room.

Why do you take the instrument panel out.
