1996 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 133, 00 miles
I will explain what we did to this car and mapybe you can help us. We obtained this car knowing it had had 2 new rebuilt transmission put in it and yet still needed another. Therefore the first thing we did because we thought the reason it was burning up trannys was replaced the wiring harness. The wiring harness was all cut up and spliced together in many areas. We obtained a very good wiring harness from a pick and pull put it and and then replaced the transmission. When we test drove the car it shifted everytime but it shifted up then down then up so it shifted in the wrong order. Lost we pulled the computer out of the car and discovered it was from a junk yard. We call the dealer to find out that the computer that was in this car was the wrong one for this car. So we searched down the correct computer. The car now shifts into every gear but does the first gear it kinda rough. There is not check engine light so we are pretty sure it is not a siliniod. Therefore we are totally lost. Is the fact that this is not the original wiring harrness the problem?
