I was driving my 1996 Ford Taurus (103,000 miles) in town when the dashboard lights went out, as did the radio, and then I heard a clicking sound before the engine died. The car would not restart (the hazard lights would not even go on). I had it towed back home where the car then started again. A couple days earlier the dashboard lights and radio went out when I was on the highway, but the engine did not die. Much like the other day, I heard the clickling sound, the car sputtered and even began slowing down, but then suddenly everything was back to normal. The difference is that the day the car died I was sitting in heavy traffic, while the day the car seemed to recover I was driving 65 pmh down the highway. I'm sure this will happen again. Any ideas what could have caused this. Electrical, alternator, other?
have the same problem?
