Hello,

The crankshaft sensor is called a hall effects sensor which is located inside the distributor. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

We bought this car used and it drove perfect for about three months. Daughter parked it in the driveway and it won't start again.
Several people have told us it sounds like the crank sensor. We have the part but have been told to look in two different places in the engine. Where is it located?

where is the ignition switch located and will it kill the fire to the motor when it heats up then start back when it cools off. Help going crazy. Also will a crankshaft sensor heat up and not fire then cool off and fire? Im losing fire when the motor is at normal temp.

The switch is at the bottom of the steering column. I doubt that is the problem. Has the check engine light come on? The crank sensor could be the problem.

Let me know.

That could be the problem. Have you checked wiring to make sure everything is tight, clean, and not corroded or damaged?

CKP sensor is located on front cover near crankshaft pulley. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove serpentine drive belt. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect sensor connectors.
Remove sensor bolt and sensor.

If the 8Th digit is a 4 then you have a 3.8L engine? If you have the 3.8L that has a distributor and wouldn't have a crank sensor. So do you have the 3.8L engine? If you don't then what engine do you have?Do the spark plug wire's go straight from the coil to plug's?Or do you have a cap the wire's come off?
