Sounds like its the fuel pump to me! Performa fuel pressure test to be sure. If its low then you should suspect fuel related, for that you should check for voltage at the pump, if thers voltage and no pump response then the pump is bad, if theres no voltage suspect inertia switch, wiring issue.

You could have good fuel pressure and not be getting fuel into the engine. Check to see if the injectors are getting power.

I hav just installed new timing belt. It has been sitting for a few years and wondered if the fuel pump may be oxidized and gummed up and cannot get fuel to injectors? I know there is spark forsure.

The only way to tell is to check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter, intank pick-up sock and the fuel pump

1994 Ford Taurus Wagon 3.0L engine. Car starts and stalls every once and awhile and then just turns over without starting. Changed the fuel filter and the distributor/rotor still happens. I noticed after changing the fuel filter, that when I disconnect the negative terminal wait a couple of minutes and reconnect it. The car returns to normal and starts rightup. Any Ideas?

When it stalls don't wait- do below immediately to determine if its a fuel or spark issue

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, Do you hear the fuel pump come On when you turn key on? If not check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay if okay-check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing

Electrical problem
1994 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 156000 miles

Sometimes my car will run great for a couple of weeks, then it will crank over very strong but won't start. I have had it at my mechanic, but unless he can duplicate the problem, he can't find anything wrong. The A/C is not working, the back doors and windows can't be opened from inside the car. I can't afford to take it to Ford, but they charge way to much. Please help.

I cant help you diagnoss this unless you can find out if its not getting fuel to the engine or spark/ignition when the vehicle wont start.
