Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 108000 miles

I started up my daughter's 94 Taurus recently after it had sit idle for a couple of weeks. It started up. Ran for about 5 minutes, then stalled. Now it won't start up at all. It cranks, but won't start. Spark is good, and injector pulses are there(checked with a noid light). I checked fuel pressure. And it comes up to 40 psi and holds steady there. It takes several turns of the key to the "on" position to get up to pressure however. I've read that it should come up to pressure spec. Quickly with one turn of the key, but once the pressure is there, shouldn't the car at least be starting up? I can see where the fuel pump may be weak, but I'm wondering if there are other problems also since when the fuel is there I still get nothing.

Hi:

The code you are getting means that everything is working properly electronicaly. That leads me to believe there is a problem with fuel reaching. We have two choices. First, I can provide the directions as to how fuel pressure is tested. Or, you can see if the car starts for a couple seconds with starting fluid.

Let me know what you want to do.

Joe

Electrical problem
1994 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 107000 miles

Today while driving I stopped for gas, went to start the car to leave and it wouldn't. It seemed like it tried to turn over very briefly after that, there was just a single click. I replaced the battery and it still did the same thing. Tested old battery and it was ok. All it does when I turn the key is make a single click noise under the hood. All other electrical stuff functions properly.

The car ran good up until that point, no oil leaking etc. The only thing that I did a few days earilier was change the oil. It was a slightly higher weight 10W40 blended synthetic. However other than that, I havent messed with anything. Cables look to be in good shape as far as I can tell. I am stationed in spain so any work I can do myself will greatly help me out.

Thanks for the help.
The engine cranks over but does not start. I do not hear the fuel pump running. No sparks either. The car suddently died while being driven on the road.
I was going to replace the engine control module as a first step. I have a spare vehicle with the same year, make and model. I can swap parts from the spare vehicle to see what fixes the problem. Could you please guide me? I am helping a friend who has no money and out of work. I will be willing to donate as soon as I hear from you and you show me a path.
Thanks again.

Also check th the fuel inertia switch inside the truck on the side wall of the trunk. On my taurus I had the same problem and spent alot of money to find out this switch needed to be pressed in. It cuts off the fuel pump in case of an accident. It sucks because you can hit the outside of the trunk where it is located and it may cut it off also so be careful. If thats fine and still dies while driving then you may need a new fuel pump

I got the car from a co worker. After 1st start of day car will not start without giving it gas rest of day. Shop told me alternator was draining battery and a new crankshift sensor was necessary. Agreed to new battery, alternator, crankshaft sensor. Now shop said computer burnt out and they need more time, it has already been a week. Any ideas?

After 1st start of day car will not start without giving it gas rest of day.

What do you mean by this-is giving it gas thru the throttle body or stepping the gas pedal to get it to start?
