My flex fuel truck wouldn't start after a cold spell, 16 below. When it started after warming up it ran real fast then died after a minute. I changed the plugs and the same thing with starting then dying happened. I then changed the fuel filter and it started right up again but ran crappy for a moment then cleared up and ran fine but fast. After several minutes it died again. It won't start now.

Sounds like there may be too much air coming into the engine unmetered. Is there a check engine light at all? I would look for a vacuum leak and check for codes.

I'm not sure if the fuel filter scenario is sheding light on the problem because of the symptom change,

If it is relevant, then I need to have the fuel pressure checked against spec.
