I am having clutch trouble and I am looking for a diagnosis. When I first start driving the truck the clutch is fine but sometimes after driving a few miles, the clutch will get soft and will only slowly allow gears to engage and then the gear pops in and then it will not engage any longer and the clutch pedal will get very hard. After I park the car and leave it sit a few hours, it works fine. I had it towed to the shop after one of these incidents and by the time the shop got to it, they weren't able to find the problem. I have had it since new and once it's fixed it will be fine but I am at a loss. I don't use it much and it spends a lot of time sitting idle. Any suggestions?

I want to clarify.

You start driving and the clutch seems normal.

Then the pedal gets soft and it is difficult to shift into gear.

Then the pedal gets hard, you can shift into gear, but you can't go anywhere
