I have a 1998 Ford Windstar, 3.8liter engine, 122,000 miles. I ran out of gas a few days ago, when I finally got gas in it, it still would not start. I then discovered that the fuse, 20 amp, for the fuel pump was blown. I replaced the fuse and the car will start and drive about 5 miles and the fuse will go right back out. What would be causing the fuse for the fuel pump to constantly go out like that? I used an entire box of fuses just to drive my car home yesterday.
