This is a car that I'm thinking of buying -- it's a 1999 Escort SE, 89K miles. Took it in for an inspection and the mechanic said the front rotors and back drums needs to be replaced and thr brake fluid needs to be flushed. (They found no other problems, except that one of the tires has a screw stuck in it.)
So what I'm wondering is: first, is it likely that the rotors and drums really need to be replaced altogether? And second, if they do need to be replaced, is an estimate of $900 (for front & back brakes plus changing the brake fluid) reasonable, or too high?
