Power windows stopped working

All buttons, all doors stopped working at same time

MY OWNERS MANUAL DOES NOT LIST ANY FUSES FOR POWER WINDOWS.
Sorry caps does show a 3 0amp circuit breaker which is good.
Power door locks work, just not any window controls.
Interior lights gauges, glove box light all work.

Yea my main driver side window buttons work, but not the passenger buttons. I just have no idea with my window thanks for you help. Now me and this guy need you help with our windows.

Any thoughts? Anybody?

You need to check if there is power to the switch on the driver's door. That is the main switch. If there isn't, check to see if there is a wiring issue where the wiring comes between the door and the door frame.

If you are getting power to the main switch and not the other switches, there has to be a break in the wiring between the two. Have you checked the wiring between the doors and the door frames?

No I havent. My driver side door is not the original door to the car. It was totaled back in 07 and rebuilt and this door was takin off another explorer.

That is where you need to start. My guess is there is a break in the wiring, or when the door was replaced, something was spliced and has come apart. Is there power to the primary switch on the driver's door?

I originally started this thread, I am still trying to locate a wiring diagram so I can try and probe the switches for power and/or continuity. All power door locks work.
No power window's work. Power window circuit breaker is good. Time delay relay appears good.

When I took off the panel all I can see are multiple switches some with 6 t0 8 wires leading out. I don't know which is main switch which wire is main feed. That's why I have been asking where I can try to find a schematic.
Drivers door power locks work. Isn't that the same feed for power windows?

Any thoughts?

There are two seperate power supplies. One is switched through the ignition and the other is hot all the time. I could try to send a schematic if you have a way to enlarge it.

Broken ground wire found drivers door

Yes but I never lost power to auto locks, thats what I couldn't understand

Thanks for letting me know. I had a feeling it would be something like that to lose both power supplies. I'm glad you got it fixed. Was it between the door and the door jamb?

The solenoid is grounded through the door. That is why it kept working. Regardless, I'm glad it's fixed. Take care and let us know if you have questions in the future.

I found this wiring diagram that shows two window fuses and the wiring for the window switches so you can do some testing if needed.

The switch is designed to reverse the polarity of power to the window motor. Check the other wire to see if gets power when you try to put it up. If it does, replace the motor. If it doesn't, the switch is bad.

Replaced the master switch. Didn't help.
We switched the 2 wires running to the motor and can get the window up, which makes me think the motor is fine.

I agree. The motor sounds fine. The polarity is switched (by the switch) when you need it to go down. When you press down on the switch, do you get any power to the motor?

From the master switch (driver side), we get nothing (neither up or down).
From the switch on passenger side, it only goes down, so yes, we have power to the motor when pressing down on the switch. This is mind boggling and very frustrating. Thanks for the help!

Electrical problem
2003 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Automatic 86000 miles

My power windows quit working about a week ago (after shutting off and restarting they worked again). The next day they were out again and have been since. All fuses and relays are good. I dont believe it is a switch problem because all 4 switches are not working. Could it be a switch?

Remove the main switch drivers, clean it with wd40 if dont work possibly its bad. When the main switches drivers go bad sometimes the rest of switches will not work. The rest of ur switches r good just try the the drivers main. Good luck

You definitely have bad window regulator. Is it stop working on the rear windows?
Check on the top bar of the window regulator to see if you have a wheel on it. There are two wheels, one on the top and one on the bottom of the regulator frame. If you have only one on the bottom, replace the window regulator.

Electrical problem
2003 Ford Explorer 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 144000 miles

My electric windows do not work. I checked the fuses and they seem to work. I tried to replace the switches in the drivers door and this did not work. Since none of the windows work from the drivers door switches, I believe that it might be a problem between the fuses and the main switches. Any ideas

Do the other 3 door windows operate with their separate switch? If so then check wiring to the master (driver door) switch.
