Fuel rail pressure sensor

Shakes or wobbles problem. My check engine soon light has come on and the diagnostic read p0193. That code is a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor. If possible could you tell/show me where that sensor is located? Times are hard and I cannot afford for Ford to replace this sensor at a $400.00 price. I am no mechanic but I am handy unless you say that I should not even attempt such a task. Thanks. R. Torres

Yes you can change this sensor yourself in about 20 minutes. A small amount of fuel with be present during the job so have shop towels ready. Here is a diagram (Below) of the job being done. The part on Amazon for $36.00 - Motorcraft

2004 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Having problems locating the fuel rail pressure sensor. I have the part, now I don't know how to get to it to change it. Fail code 0193.

Recvd fuel rail pressure sensor code. Replaced fuel rail pressure sensor. Now the car won't even start. Any ideas

You're going to need a scan tool to find out what the fuel pressure is. I don't thing it has a service port.

Engine Performance problem
2002 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles

I have replaced the fuel pump, filter, FP relay, and crank sensor. However it will still not start. I have strong spark, but when I release the shrader valve I get no fuel out of the rail. Now when I remove the fuel rail pulsation damper and reinstall it and then turn the key on, the fuel rail will charge with fuel but just enough to get it to try to fire. Then no more fuel in the rail again, unless I take the damper off and do it again. Is it my damper that has gone bad? Its a $400+ part dealer only. I don't know what else it could possibly be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my explorer was getting a both banks lean code so I changed the plugs they were gapped.040 over spec. Also at 3000 RPM the engine surges and wont got past 3000 RPM. I dont have the lean codes any more. I changed the mass airflow sensor no change. I checked my fuel pressure w/ key on im gettin 65-70lbs fuel pressure stays same while running. I have not checked the pressure when it surges. I also sprayed started fluid all around the engine and no miss fires to indicate a vaccum leak. Any suggestions I think my fuel regulator might be bad but I dont knowwhat the base line for fuel pressure is. The pump is 270 dolllars I want to verify that I have the right pressure before I spend the time and cash.

The pressure spec is key on engine off, or engine running 60-65 psi. KEY OFF. For Mechanical Returnless Fuel System with fuel pressure greater than 448 kPa (65 psi). REPLACE fuel pressure regulator in fuel tank.
HC6 CHECK PRESSURE REGULATOR AND PULSE DAMPER DIAPHRAGM
Fuel pressure tester installed.
Start engine and run engine for 10 seconds.
Key off, wait 10 seconds.
Start engine and run engine for 10 seconds.
Key off, remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator or pulse damper port.
Inspect for fuel in the vacuum hose or regulator port or pulse damper.
Is fuel present in the vacuum hose, regulator or pulse damper port?
Yes No
REPLACE fuel pressure regulator.

For Mechanical Returnless Fuel System:

Replace pulse damper.

Hello, could someone tell me where a Fuel Pressure Regulator is for a 1999 Ford Explorer. It is a 4.0L V6 MFI OHV 4 Door Model. Im not sure if it is on the Fuel rail or part of the fuel pump assembly. I heard ford changed them on this model so im hoping someone could tell me for sure.

I have replaced throttle body sensor and motor, I can here fuel pump when key is turned on but care turns over but never starts. I also changed plugs and coil pack. Would the rail sensor keep it from starting?

WHAT ABOUT MAYBE A SHOT OF STARTER FLUID DOWN INTO THE THROTTLE BODY?.....IF THIS MAKES IT BARK/ COUGH/ SPIT AND SPUTTER/ OR EVEN BUST OFF FOR A SECOND OR TWO....UNLIKE WHAT "HAS BEEN" HAPPENING (MAY PROVE SPARK IS GOOD, BUT A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY)

I have no fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail. But I have fuel at each connection of the suppy tubing and hoses. There is fuel right at the fuel pump to hose connection in the rear of the vehicle and it streams out pretty good. It comes out at every point of connection all the way up to the fuel rail in the front left side of the engine. At that point it seems to come out O K also. The test port is located on the right side of the manifolds fuel rail at the rear of the engine. When I depress the schrader valve nothing comes out and when I attach the fuel gauge I get a zero reading. My next attempt to get this SUV started was to change the pressure regulator. Will this solve my no pressure at the test port ptoblem and start the vehicle?

Before replacing the regulator, disconnect the vacuum to it to see if the pressure goes up. Also, have you checked pressure before the filter? One last thing, pinch off the rubber fuel hose that returns to the fuel tank to see if that builds pressure for you. If that does, then the regulator is bad.
