Sometimes it starts right up. If I drive it -shut it off and try to start it again-it won't start or if it does, it won't idle when in drive.
Do you
have the same problem?

Tell me how old is the fuel filter? Have you check to see if spark or fuel are not pressent when it won't start? Is the check engine light on? Let me know what you can so we try to figure out what is happening.

We haven't had it very long. We traded for it so our Grandson could learn to drive. We don't know the history but it is probably safe to say that the fuel filter has not been changed. Yes, the check engine light came on several times, but now it is on all of the time. Is the fuel filter hard to change? Should we take it to a mechanic for the check engine light.

No the fuel filter it not hard to change. It is on the inside of the frame on the drivers side it is large round can. As for the engine light what I would do is call around to you local parts stores and see if one does a free a scan and take it there and have them scan it to see if there are any codes. If there is write them down and then have them clear them. Get back to me with what codes there are.
You might need one of these tools to change the fuel filter.
