I am looking at buying a 1994 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition SUV.
118,000 miles
4 WD

I have been reading online about it and it looks like I should be worried about problems with the transmission.

Should I be concerned with the transmission?

What should I be looking for when I test drive and look at the car?

Anything I should know that I probably dont?
Do you
have the same problem?

Take it to an independent shop and ask them to look it over. BEFORE you buy it.

I have seen rear end, transfer case, ball joint problems on these. Being a 94, (13 years old), it would be foolish to buy without haveing a competent mechanic look it over.

Check the fluids. Are they all clean or dirty? There are many things you can look at, but many you can not with out a lift and experience.
