can the oil pan be removed without removing anything else

No, you will have to remove different components to replace the oil pan gasket. It depends on what engine size you have as far as what all needs removed though.

Have 2004 Ford Expedition XLT Triton V8 4.6. Same question as OP. Oil pan looks like it would clear the cross member. Just worried with screen an pick up tube might not let it clear? So I have to remove cross member?

As far as clearance, Whether it being 2wd or 4wd to answer your question- yes the cross member has to be removed for oil pan removal/installation clearance. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
